Celebrity chef Harlan Goldstein played host this week for the grand opening of his much anticipated new venture, Strip House in Lan Kwai Fong's Grand Progress Building, the same building that housed his now-defunct Tuscany by H restaurant.
'In Hong Kong, people are pretty meat crazy,' he said when asked about his decision to open a steak house. 'I was surprised to find out how many women have steak for lunch, as well.
'It's the perfect space for what I want to achieve. And this is the same building where Allan Zeman had his first office when he started out in Lan Kwai Fong. The man is my lucky charm.'
Instead of a grand party for Monday's opening, Goldstein opted for an intimate ribbon-cutting ceremony with his business partners.
'The space is not massive, yet I have 10,000 people on my [contacts] list,' he said.
Now that Strip House is up and running, Goldstein said he would spend more time back at his nearby Gold restaurant.
The chef also said he had rented yet another space in Lan Kwai Fong, so stay tuned for further developments.
