Art project makes up for the shortage of catwalk action at COS' store preview

COS, a brand owned by Sweden's H&M Group, will open its first boutique in Hong Kong this month on Queen's Road Central.

The upscale brand hosted a cocktail party on Thursday in the newly opened Galerie Perrotin at 50 Connaught Road Central to preview its upcoming autumn-winter collection.

Although only about 10 looks were displayed, and by just four models, local fashion mavens showed works produced for an art project inspired by COS' clean-cut silhouettes and layered looks. The participants were Canto-pop star Anthony Wong Yiu-ming, composer Gaybird Leung Kei-cheuk, florist Gary Kwok, jeweller Marielle Byworth, and fashion critics Arne Eggers and Winifred Lai Kin-wai.

Various executives and creative designers of the brand flew in for the preview.

It was a much anticipated event, so COS could have hired one or two more models for the preview, which included unusually long intermissions. After all, it takes longer to layer up a winter look than just throw on light summery clothes.
