The only group status afforded the win by Connoisseur's Pick in the Fortune Room Handicap was the significance of it for a particular group of former apprentice jockeys, with Derek Leung Ka-chun beating his peers to 100 career victories. Leung, Keith Yeung Ming-lun and Ben So Tik-hung all started riding as apprentices together in the 2008-09 season, and Leung's copybook use of an inside gate on the Peter Ho Leung-trained Connoisseur's Pick in the lower grade staying event made him the first of the three to hit triple figures yesterday. 'This time he got a good draw and the pace was slow, and he could finish,' Ho said. 'Derek deserves his success - he has good hands, good balance and he is a patient jockey.'
