Crack the mystery the mystery
Under A Killing Moon For PC CD-ROMs WELCOME to the virtual world of Under A Killing Moon, where it is December 2042 and you, as Tex Murphy, must stop the forces of evil before they destroy mankind and rob you of your next unemployment cheque.
This thrilling and hilarious adventure is unlike anything you will have encountered before.
The quality of the graphics, the fascinating, believable characters, and complete freedom of movement your character experiences will make you feel as if you have walked through the screen and become the central figure in an intriguing mystery movie.
Under A Killing Moon, through combining the best elements of movies and computer games, is uniquely realistic. You don't just walk into a bar, you walk into a bar and talk! If you find action and adventure games a bit monotonous and are ready for a Sherlock Holmes-type adventure, you will find Under A Killing Moon packed with brain-teasing puzzles just waiting to be solved.
No two puzzles are the same and all require a lot of imagination and logic. After tackling one problem, you are immediately given the lead to the next problem that awaits you.
The game operates on a point system and a 1,000 point score indicates that you have successfully accomplished your mission.
The game is actually broken down into a series of seven day-long adventures, stored in four CDs. Although the game carries point accumulation, this has no real significance on proceeding through the various levels.
The sound effects are excellent, with good mood-creating background music. Take a ride on the 31 Lightning Bolt Speeder and you'll know exactly what I mean.
The movements of the characters are very smooth and the dialogues interesting. The sentence option allows you to gather hints that will help you solve the crime.
Another asset of the game is that it has a built-in hint system. But remember, nothing comes for free.
If you are stuck and running short of patience, the hints can help you out of a sticky situation. But here's the catch: each time you strike the hint icon it costs you one point, and should you wish to get the lead to the next step it will cost you four points.
So, only use this function as a last resort.
Your character has complete freedom of movement and each object is available for inspection. Unfortunately, there is no zoom facility.
As with most games, one wrong move could cost you your life, so be careful not to knock on the wrong door . . .
The game requires a minimum of four RAMs and is Sound Blaster compatible.
This entertainment extravaganza, guaranteed to keep you locked behind your computer for hours, is the creation of Access Software Incorporated.
