Must stop this atrocity

I have heard and read of the many reasons put forward as to the plight of our dolphins whose habitat, sadly, is around Lantau and the works of the airport.

Recently, I was appalled to learn that one of the main reasons for the destruction of the dolphins is the local fishermen who use nets for their catch.

I am informed that the dolphins are caught in the nets from time to time and the fishermen cut off their fins causing them huge injury and to drown. Surely something must be done about this.

The Agriculture and Fisheries Department, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) must surely take action against this.

There is an area adjacent to the airport designated as a conservation area. Could this not be extended and fishermen forbidden to trawl in this vicinity? There are plenty of fish around Hong Kong's islands and no one is going to starve if that area is cut off. There should be some patrol boats to monitor this. I shall be interested to see what action can be taken to help save the dolphins from this atrocity.
