Steel output to remain static

The mainland will produce about the same amount of steel this year as it did last year, while working to improve quality and reduce imports, a top industry official says. Steel output this year should equal the 101.1 million tonnes produced last year, when the country became the largest steel producer in the world, Minister of Metallurgical Industry Liu Qi said.
