I refer to your reader's letter headlined, 'Health hazard' (South China Morning Post, November 18), concerning sanitary conditions at the junction of Kwong Yung Street and Yin Chong Street, Mongkok.
An inspection by staff of the Urban Services Department's Pest Control Section found that there were some signs of rodent infestation at the rear lanes of Nos 2-4 Kwong Yung Street.
Our staff immediately carried out rodent control measures in the vicinity. In addition, the street was thoroughly hosed down and abandoned articles were removed. The department has arranged regular street sweeping and washing to up keep the cleanliness of the area.
