Grand Vefour has claims in tricky TT
Even by Happy Valley's standards, the meeting tomorrow night looks exceptionally tricky, with bets best kept to a minimum and the consistent Grand Vefour probably the safest haven in the final leg of the Triple Trio.
The Geoff Lane-trained gelding has a good record at the Valley mile and was a bit unlucky not to win on the dirt last time when storming into second.
The sixth event looks an ordinary contest, with the likes of Braveheart and Rare looking the other main TT chances.
Braveheart should be suited by the Class Four company, having run well all season against better opposition than he now faces.
Rare has acquitted himself well in his couple of runs to date and has more scope for improvement than most of these. The other thing about the three TT candidates is you have Basil Marcus, Eric Saint-Martin and Douglas Whyte on your side.
Having said all that, it is going to be difficult getting through the first leg of the TT which, in its entirety, requires punters to find the first three, in any order, in races three, four and six.
The third event is a Class Five affair over a mile, for which the best banker candidates may be Goodwill and Sweet Win.
Goodwill probably should have won last time when a close third to Ascot Hero over a mile at Sha Tin, having been trapped very wide on the home turn and even wider swinging off it into the straight.
Sweet Win scored comfortably from off the pace over tomorrow night's course and distance when last out and still appeals as reasonably handicapped.
The topweights could be favoured in the fourth, with the likes of Cash Fortune and Gran Senorum perhaps having the most validity as bankers.
Trainer Bruce Hutchison's horses have been in good form of late and Cash Fortune, who goes well at the Valley mile, has been working along well for this Class Four event.
Marcus looks a significant booking for Gran Senorum, who also has form at the Valley mile.
Nanning Treasure ran well on debut and has always worked as if more than capable of scoring in Class Four. Money Come-In has raced consistently well all season without having too much luck and is another strong TT chance, perhaps as a banker.
