Blade Runner For PC CD-ROMs The film Blade Runner redefined cinematic science fiction about 15 years ago. Now there is a unique interactive experience for fans of the film and all open-minded adventure-gamers.
The story begins in the year 2019 in Los Angeles when life on earth has changed dramatically for the worse.
You step into the shoes of Ray McCoy, rookie Blade Runner, just as you are assigned your first major case - a savage murder.
Since most wild animals are long extinct, there is only one type of suspect who could commit such an act - a replicant. Replicants were engineered by the Tyrell Corporation. They are synthetic humans created for off-world slave labour and are illegal on Earth.
Your task is to hunt down replicants led by a philosophical, brooding sort named Clovis who wants to find a way to extend his factory-provided, four-year life span.
All the characters and sets have been rendered in 3D and animated using video motion capture technology.
Although graphics are not as sharp as you can find in Myst or Zork: Grand Inquisitor, they are still good. For instance, fog and vapour rises through the floor, neon tilts, huge turbine ventilators cast light through their blades, just like the film.
However, Blade Runner lacks puzzle solving and interactivity. Players just go to a scene, find clues, look for a new location and repeat the process.
The game runs on Pentium 90 or above with 16 MB of RAM, 150 MB of hard disk space, SVGA graphics card with 2 MB of video RAM, 4X CD-ROM drive, Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 95 and Windows NT supported sound card.
MEGAHINT: When moving from one area to another, think vertically. Many vital locations are accessible only by ladders sometimes well hidden in the dark. Move your cursor over the upper part of the screen often, looking for these obscure directions of travel.
MEGAHINT: In the last Act, there are two possible Early Q photos. You will only receive one or the other, depending on whether or not you find the scorpion box at the Peruvian Lady's. Whichever one you get, examine it before you head off to complete the game.
