Salaries for graduates from technical institutes rise

Graduates from technical institutes have seen their salaries rise 60 per cent in six years, says a Vocational Training Council poll.

The poll, which covers full-time students who graduated in 1992, also found 90 per cent remained in jobs relevant to their studies.

Results released yesterday show the graduates now earned an average $14,579 a month or, in real terms, 1.6 times what graduates were paid six years ago.

The council was satisfied its graduates' salaries had increased 'considerably' and that they were 'well accepted by the industry'.
