Assurance
I refer to the letter headlined, 'Voter's language barrier' (South China Morning Post, May 2).
The writer can rest assured that ballot papers for the Legislative Council on May 24, will be bilingual, that is, in both Chinese and English. A poll card, a sketch map showing the location of the relevant polling station, and a voting guide, all printed in both Chinese and English, are being sent to every registered elector telling them, in detail, when, where and how to vote.
A leaflet containing personal particulars and platforms of candidates provided by candidates themselves, are also included in the mail. However, it is up to the candidates to introduce themselves and present their platforms in whatever language they prefer.
