Staff required to be polite

I refer to your reader's letter headlined, 'Strange rules' (South China Morning Post, July 4), regarding rescheduling arrangements for tennis courts and the attitude of staff in Victoria Park.

According to rules for booking sports venues of the Provisional Urban Council, reallocation of the booked facility may be permitted if the hirer has used the facility for less than half of the booking session when the facility has to be closed for various reasons including inclement weather. However, no reallocation will be arranged if the facility has been used for more than half the session.

This arrangement is explicity stipulated in the 'Conditions of Use of Sports Facilities' displayed at the venue booking offices and is applicable to all types of sports facilities including tennis courts.

It has been in existence for many years and is considered fair and acceptable to the public.

Our staff are required to observe the established procedures and be polite to the public at all times. Should your reader have any further inquiries, he can contact our District Amenities Officer (Eastern) Ada Li on 2562 4144.
