Suez Canal receipts slide

Receipts at the Suez Canal fell to US$139.6 million in June from $150.9 million in May and $148.9 in June 1997, according to Egyptian Government statistics. In June, 1,250 vessels carrying 31 million tonnes sailed through the waterway that links the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
