Young Mok to lift City Patrol
It pays to follow jockeys in form and the vastly improved maximum claimer Johnny C. W. Mok falls neatly into that category after a flurry of winners of late.
And Wong Tang-ping's second-choice stable apprentice is taken to work his new-found magic and take the final event on the luckless City Patrol.
The five-year-old Irish-bred gelding has become one of that stable's most honest gallopers and his last effort, when squeezed back to the tail at the start before storming home for fourth under Alex K. S. Yu, had future winner written all over it.
That was run over course and distance in the star-studded Sha Tin 20th Anniversary Cup won by Che Sara Sara and today's field looks nowhere near as hot.
City Patrol's record over the trip is excellent - he has won twice and run the quinella on another occasion from six attempts.
And with young Mok riding so well, he looks the one to side with.
Take City Patrol in quinellas with the Ivan Allan-trained Quick Action, who has had little go his way at two starts this campaign, and the gallant Danzighill, who finished a fighting second to Che Sara Sara in that important form race.
Of the rest, the well-credentialled newcomer Resfa trialled well recently and has impressed trackwatchers in the mornings.
