Winnie resists the urge to get on her bike

THERE were some wry smiles when Commercial Radio head Winnie Yu announced a while ago she had bought a mountain bike with the express purpose of trying to get her lines as sleek and slick as those on her many sports cars.

Almost a year on, the P.S. mole inside the station's Broadcast Drive headquarters informs us that Yu, who celebrated her birthday on Friday, has quietly rid herself of the top-of-the-range magnesium alloy machine.

''After Winnie bought it the thing just stayed in her office gathering dust; I am not sure she ever rode it anywhere,'' says the mole.

''Finally she got tired of looking at it and just gave it away to some lucky person - I think she wants to concentrate on her cars because they go faster with less effort on her part.''
