Hawaii offers work and study

Students who need to work to help pay for their studies can consider attending Hawaii Pacific University.

The Honolulu-based institute has a limited number of part-time jobs available for foreign students of up to 20 hours a week. After one academic year, they can apply for off-campus jobs (internships) in their area of study. Students can also apply to remain in the United States after graduation for a year's practical training.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, Hawaii Pacific University has the highest percentage of foreign students among US universities with more than 90 countries represented. It was also rated one of the most affordable by Barron 's magazine.

On average, the 12 Master's degree programmes available cost US$2,970 per semester, while the 40-subject concentration of Bachelor degree programmes cost US$3,960.
