I am in the process of employing an overseas domestic helper and have obtained from the Immigration Department a number of documents which are required for the department's assessment and consideration.
Among the documents is one Information Sheet (Form No ID822 (12/98). In that form apart from supplying the number of residents in the household, the potential employer is also asked to supply information regarding the name, date of birth and Hong Kong identity card number of his family members. Although there is an explanatory note attached to indicate this Information Sheet is for data collection purposes and the employer may choose not to complete the form, however, an incomplete form may affect the assessment.
Since the reasoning behind this Information Sheet is for data collection only, why is it necessary to ask for the name and ID card number of the residents in the household? Why would an incomplete form affect the assessment? An answer from the Director of Immigration would be appreciated.
