Wife joins husband's leap threat

A 32-year-old man spurned by his mistress threatened to jump from the roof of a 15-storey block of flats in Shekkipmei yesterday.

His wife, who was called to the scene to talk him down, instead joined him on the roof in threatening to commit suicide.

The couple were persuaded to come down after an hour-long stand-off with police and firefighters.

The drama began at about 7.30am when the man visited his 26-year-old mistress at a flat in Tai Po Road.

After she told him she wanted to break off the relationship, the man ran to the roof and threatened to jump, a police spokesman said.

The mistress called his 29-year-old wife and police for help.

His wife joined him and threatened to jump after she discovered their relationship.

The couple came down at 8.30am and were sent to Caritas Medical Centre.
