Dream show of sister Theberge

Valerie and Michele Theberge are sisters, but their art - as seen this week at the Fringe Club - is very different. While Hong Kong resident Valerie does big abstract collages exploring the relationships of colour, and figurative pictures of sad-looking women, her California-resident sister has chosen mainly quirky pen and ink sketches to display - showing shoes, clothes hanging, people with strangely large features, or strangely large features not attached to people at all.

The exhibition, unfortunately, is a testament to the art of framing: those sketches and paintings that aren't framed look messy. The show might be called Paper Dreams, but the Montblanc gallery and possibly the two artists deserve a more impressive display than paper dreaming to curl up where it has been wet by paint. The show runs until April 7.
