I am fortunate to live in an apartment in Mid-Levels with a panoramic view over the harbour and Kowloon. However, particularly at weekends, this view is regularly marred by the plume of blue smoke rising from the Star Cruise ships moored at Ocean Terminal. These ships must be spewing out more gunk than many dozens of badly-maintained taxis. From my vantage point they are certainly by far the worst source of pollution that I can see.
I am surprised that Star Cruises does not take action to remedy this major blemish on the Hong Kong environment and I would also be interested to understand why the Environmental Protection Department has not forced the fitting of some sort of filters on these vessels.
