Your correspondent Peter Kwong in his letter headlined, 'No ambulance' (South China Morning Post, August 10), related a traffic accident on the Island Eastern Corridor on July 26.
Computer records from the Fire Services Communication Centre revealed that an ambulance aid motorcycle arrived at the scene 11 minutes after receipt of the call for help.
This was within the 12-minute response time target set in our performance pledge.
Two ambulances also arrived soon afterwards despite the severe traffic congestion.
Police assistance in directing other traffic so as to provide a clear access route for our emergency vehicles was also effected.
The Government, particularly the Fire Services Department, endeavours to offer medical attention and treatment to the injured in traffic accidents in the fastest possible way and in the shortest span of time.
