Over 100 illegal immigrants have been arrested in a 24-hour police operation which ended on Friday morning.
The 60 men and 80 women were found to have committed various offences after police made 7,543 identity card checks in the investigation which lasted until 5am.
A police spokesman said 28 of those arrested were illegal immigrants; 59 were overstayers and another 35 breached conditions of stay.
''The police will conduct similar operations on a regular basis to combat illegal immigration activities,'' the spokesman said.
In addition, 13 people who employed staff illegally were also arrested.
Those caught with forged documents included a person with a fake ID card, another using someone else's identity document and three people with forged documents.
The spokesman said illegal immigrants and overstayers would be repatriated, but aiders and abettors would be prosecuted.
