Worried about stray dogs

IN recent months, the area around Lee Tung Street and Queen's Road East has been plagued by a pack of stray dogs. Their presence poses a hazard to passers-by, but there is also the problem of the faeces deposited by them in the street. It seems a pity thisstate of affairs should be allowed to persist, when the Government is so strenuously trying to implement the ''Keep Hongkong Clean'' campaign.

Residents have put up with this problem for long enough. I hope that the relevant government department will act to curb this menace.

I like dogs, but something should be done about these strays. Spare a thought, for example, for the streetside cobbler, who has nowhere else to ply his trade and has to put up with this threat and mess.
