I refer to the letter by Eileen Knights headlined 'Supervisor could curb queue-jumpers' (Sunday Morning Post, March 24), regarding problems she had with the No 1 minibus from Central to the Peak.
The Transport Department has liaised with the operator and the following improvements have been implemented:
With a view to improving queuing, the operator has put up a notice to remind passengers to exercise self-discipline and line up for the bus, and lengthened the queuing space by using string in addition to the existing railings.
The operator agreed to deploy a regulator whenever possible to maintain order in the queue.
To meet the passenger demand during the morning peak, the route now has a higher frequency. We conducted a survey in March which showed that between 7am and 9.30am, there were only supposed to be 26 scheduled trips. However, the operator increased that to 54 trips.
