In reference to Nick Pearson's letter 'Autotoll arguments fail to convince' (South China Morning Post, May 21), I would like to offer my thoughts as to why motorbikes are unsuitable for the autotoll at tunnels.
It's well known that if the autotoll tag is not mostly on the right-hand side of the windscreen, the detector will not pick up the tag. This would require a motorbike to have to drive through the autotoll as close to the right side as possible.
Surely having to concentrate on being as close to the tag detector as possible could be dangerous to the rider and maybe this is why a convincing answer is not being provided?
