Can construction and conservation co-exist? Find out at the Hong Kong Secondary School Construction Design Competition tomorrow.
The 'Green House' theme of the competition saw 25 teams of students build their construction models on environmentally friendly concepts.
The competition, organised by the Division of Building Science and Technology (Architectural Studies) of City University (CityU), is divided into junior (Forms One to Three) and senior (Forms Four to Seven) sections.
Contestants could use any materials they wanted to prepare a model of their design and had to include an explanation of it.
Three lecturers from the university's Department of Building and Construction and three guest architects will judge the entries.
Vice-chairman of the Student Union of Construction Jackie Chan Pak-kei said the competition helped to educate the public.
'People think that being environmentally friendly only means recycling and stopping the exploitation of natural resources. We want to show that buildings can be environmentally friendly too,' he said.
The models will be on display at CityU until Monday.
