Caribbean Magic Steelband
The Caribbean Magic Steelband are composed of Trinidad's finest steel-drum musicians, all of whom are members of the famed Renegades. The group, who have toured the world and played to audiences of up to 7,000, have a repertoire ranging from Bob Marley to Mozart. Today, 8pm. $100-$280. Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium. Hong Kong International Children's Choral Festival 2002
Five visiting choirs perform folk songs, church music, children's songs and contemporary choral pieces: the Children And Young Women's Chorus of the China National Symphony Orchestra; Russia's Radost Children's Choir; South Korea's St Nicholas Children's Choir; St Ursula Children's Choir of Villingen, Germany, and Thailand's Wattana Girls' Chorus. For tonight's final performance, led by festival director Dr Yip Wai-hong, the five choirs will join 11 local children's choirs for a 300-strong performance. Expect all the favourites, including Let There Be Peace On Earth and We, The Children. Tonight, the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra also perform. Today, 8pm. $60-$180. Itzhak Perlman
Master violinist Itzhak Perlman, one of the most prolific and versatile artists of modern times, will give a recital with pianist Rohan De Silva at the Cultural Centre tomorrow. In his distinguished career, Perlman has won 15 Grammy Awards (the most recent for The American Album with Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1996) and four Emmys. The Wind
This drama - performed by the Joint School Performing Arts Alliance (a non-profit organisation aimed at promoting friendship between the Hong Kong True Light College, True Light Girl's College, Wah Yan College and Ying Wa College) - is set in a walk-up building in the 1960s. It follows the historical events of 1962's typhoon Wanda, the water restrictions of 1963, the suicide of actress Linda Lin Dai in 1964 and the economic crisis of the latter part of the decade. Twin Solo
An exhibition of recent works by Gaylord Chan and Josephine Chow. Chan's signature combinations of strong colour and bold brushstrokes now flirt with abstract forms. Lu Shoukun: Ink Paintings
Lu Shoukun, the eminent ink painter who left a legacy by revolutionising his chosen art form, is featured in this show at Alisan Fine Arts. With his paintings, exhibitions, writings and teaching, Lu tirelessly promoted ink painting in Hong Kong until his death, aged 56, in 1975. This exhibition focuses on his works from the 1960s. Ninth Anniversary Exhibition
Galerie La Vong's ninth birthday exhibition began at The Rotunda in Exchange Square and moved into the gallery for a run which ends today. The group's exhibition 'chronicles the development of Vietnamese painting over three generations'. Works from the last clutch of painters from Hanoi's French Fine Art Academy in 1945 are displayed alongside works from the 1960s and 70s, and contemporary artists like Nguyen Thanh Binh and Phan Cam Thuong. Colourful Summer
Sixteen children from Yuen Long have been spending the summer learning art from Hong Kong artist Alannala Lau and the Sheung May Art School. They exhibited their work at the Yuen Long Theatre last month and, following public interest, have put on a second exhibition at Olympian City. Open daily 12pm-10pm.
