The Urban Renewal Authority along with New World Development have embarked on a very ambitious redevelopment programme that will change the face of Tsim Sha Tsui.
It is rumoured that the complete area within the Hanoi Road and Mody Road radius will be transformed into a complex similar to Times Square in Causeway Bay. It will complement the KCR Corporation's Hunghom extension project.
It is, however, surprising that while most of the area has been cleared, one old building, 15-19 Carnarvon Road, which is in the centre of the site and is an eyesore, has been left standing.
Has it been declared a listed building that cannot be demolished? Is it going to get in the way of a bold new project? Or have the developers run out of money?
I hope this building does not pose a threat to their ambitious plans.
