Gadget

IF YOU OWN AN older Handspring and enjoy golf, this is the gadget for you. In fact, if you like golf and you don't have a Handspring, this might just be your excuse to buy one. The SkyGolf GPS unit is perhaps the ultimate example of military technology put to a peaceful use. The package consists of a GPS unit and software, which allows you to download various golf-course maps from the internet. Once on the fairway, SkyGolf can tell you how far you are from the green, how far you have to hit the ball, and keep score for you. Course maps can be down-loaded at no charge, but the SkyGolf GPS unit will set you back US$424 (HK$3,306). While there are plenty of course maps available for Europe and the United States, the only Asian map is for the Keya Golf Club in Japan. SkyGolf GPS can be ordered by visiting www.expansys.com.
