UNLUCKY SAN SAN RUNS INTO TROUBLE

Seaweed cost Lee Lai-shan top spot in the Kiel Week Olympic sailing event in Germany yesterday. The Hong Kong ace had to be satisfied with a third placing in the overall standings after finishing the third and final race on day one in 11th place. San San won the first two races comfortably and was amongst the leaders in the third race when her fin was enveloped in seaweed, forcing her to stop and clear it. By the time she resumed it was too late to catch the leading pack. San San is on 13 points, behind leader Anna Graczyk of Poland (10 points) and Anja Kaeser of Switzerland (11). Of Hong Kong's other two female competitors, Chan Wai-kei was in eighth place while Chan Wai-man was 20th. In the men's event, Ho Chi-ho had two second place finishes and a third spot to be in second.
