Long-distance phone deal

PORTUGUESE firm Marconi-Comunicacoes Globais has entered into an agreement with the Post and Telecommunications Ministry of China for co-operation on long-distance international telecommunications.

The deal would lead to improvements in international voice and data transmission as well as in broadcasting services, the company said.

It would maximise use of transmission networks and resources, and help develop new services and facilities such as the ''Country Direct'' service and telephone cards, it said.
