Anyone can enjoy the excitement riding aboard this means of transport, especially the thrilling moment when it reaches its sharpest incline of 27 degrees. The railway has been running since 1888. The rights to the tramway were acquired for $2,000 many years ago by the Peak Hotel owner, who wanted better access for his hotel guests. Originally operated by coal-fired steam boilers, it became electrically powered in 1926. Today, it can carry 120 passengers and makes more than 90 trips a day.
