Here we are again in the future, where an author's imagination knows no bounds and anything can happen. Kai is a child - and an assassin - who lives in the desperate town of Portobello. He uses his deadly talents to earn money so he can live. But Kai has a plan to get out of Portobello.
Before he can achieve this, he has to complete one last job. He has to track down and eliminate twins who have escaped from a genetic modification programme.
But, as in all good edge-of-the-seat thrillers, things get in the way and Kai's last job takes on a complication he has not foreseen.
As Good As Dead in Downtown is a classy nail-biter that is exciting and plausible. It is packed with action that carries you easily from one chapter to the next.
Doing exactly what a thriller should do, As Good As Dead in Downtown suspends disbelief and thrills.
