Maharaja-style diamond and ruby brooch and earrings.

'This piece was bought from India about 15 years ago, and was a gift from my husband David. I fell in love with this design because of its versatility and antique look; it is inspired by an actual piece worn by one of the Maharanis of India during the time of the Raj. It consists of diamonds and rubies [baguettes and cabochons] set in yellow gold. The brooch can also be attached to several strings of rubies to form a necklace, but this season I plan to wear it on its own as brooches are all the rage. The earrings are also stunning worn on their own. I first wore it years ago at a family wedding, and I still get lots of compliments because of its striking colour and design.'

'Since I love colours, I have my eye on my emerald earrings this season. My favourites are Harry Winston and Van Cleef because of their exquisite designs.'
