Marchy avoids trouble to finish 18th

Chinese race ace Marchy Lee Yin-kin finished 18th after starting 29th on the grid to complete a bittersweet Macau Grand Prix weekend yesterday. After an incident packed qualifying session on Saturday, Lee was forced to start from the back of the grid, but held his cool to avoid pile-ups during the race. After a good start, Lee held his position and navigated his way around the tight Guia street circuit as most cars made it through unscathed.

On lap three of 15, leader Nico Rosberg and second-placed Lewis Hamilton skidded into the barriers at Mandarin, probably due to oil on the track, bringing out the safety car for three laps.

At the re-start, Danny Watts, ahead of Lee, slammed heavily on the brakes, forcing Lee to back off, which allowed Dutch-born Tung Ho-pin past, pushing Lee into 20th. Tung finished 16th in the race to top Lee in the battle of the top Chinese drivers.'I was very careful to avoid any incidents at the start, and I just held my own. I think that with better qualifying I could have been much further up.'
