AN unauthorised biography of John F. Kennedy Jr, due out by Christmas, peeks into the pre-Daryl Hannah, celebrity-dating adventures of America's most eligible bachelor.

According to Prince Charming: The JFK Jr Story, by British writer Wendy Leigh, Kennedy's brief fling with Madonna was doomed from the start. ''Madonna came on far too strong for him. Blatant sexuality really embarrasses John,'' the book says.

And Kennedy was not much luckier with Sinead O'Connor. Flirting with the shaved-headed rocker at a party, JFK asked her for her phone number. The Irish singer took his pen ''as if to write down her number'', Leigh writes, ''then snapped it in half and stuffed it in his pocket''.
