Worker dies in Hunghom construction site fall

A 54-year-old worker died after falling from a building under construction in Hung Lok Road, Hunghom, yesterday. The man was working on the 36th floor when he fell onto the seventh-floor podium at about 11.30am. Police said his colleague heard a loud bang and found him lying unconscious on the podium.

Free Sony adaptors

Sony will give free replacements for defective adaptors on its slim-line PlayStation 2. The company said the adaptors made between August and December last year could melt and cause a fire. Customers can call 2389 3202 for information during office hours.

Police officer assaulted

A man was arrested for assaulting a police officer at the junction of Shanghai Street and Pitt Street, Yau Ma Tei. The alleged assault happened when the 27-year-old man was stopped by police for an identity check at 3.30am. He struggled with the officer, who suffered minor injuries.

Cosmetics theft arrest

Police arrested a 38-year-old man for stealing cosmetics worth $6,900 from the Star House Watson's in Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, at about 9.30am. Officers saw him running out of the store and gave chase, intercepting him at the junction with Canton Road.

Typhoon shelter rescue

A fireman and two ambulance officers jumped into the water to rescue a man who fell from the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter shortly after midnight. He was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital.
