Music festival

Miss Wong wants us to play at the music festival. I

don't think we're ready.

I'm ready, but I don't think Jack is.

What are you talking about? I can rock the hall!

I'm up for the challenge. What about you, Mike?

Let's rock 'n' roll, baby.

All right, guys, let's do it!

Wicked!

Language Points

1. up for the challenge

When you are up for a challenge, you are ready to tackle a difficult task.

Eg. Do you think Duncan is up for the challenge of climbing Mount Fuji?

2. rock 'n' roll

Rock 'n' roll is a kind of music that originated in the 1950s. When you say 'let's rock 'n' roll', it means let's get the action going. Here it means let's start singing.

Eg. Sunny, it's our turn to sing, so let's rock 'n' roll.

3. wicked

It means fantastic or excellent. The word originated in the US. The word 'wickedly' can mean 'very' or 'really'.

Eg. Tennis star Roger Federer played a wicked game to crush Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon final.
