Fantastic space journey comes to an end

THERE are only two weeks before the sky show The Voyager Encounters is taken off the screen at the Hong Kong Space Museum. The last show will be on November 29.

The Voyager takes the audience on an extraordinary journey of adventure and romance in planetary exploration.

In 1977, two unmanned Voyager spacecraft were launched by the United States' National Aeronautics and Space Administration or popularly known as NASA.

The journeys were planned to take advantage of a favourable alignment of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

During the 12 years of exploration, the Voyagers examined the four giant planets and most of their large satellites extensively.

Audiences will see images showing dynamic storms on Jupiter and Neptune, the glittering beauty of Saturn's ring systems, the bewildering landscape of Miranda and the amazing nitrogen ice ''volcanoes'' on Triton.

The 40-minute sky show is screened daily at 2.30 pm, 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm except Tuesdays. There will be additional shows at 12.30 pm on Sundays.

Tickets at $20 and $13 for students and senior citizens are available at the Space Museum Box Office and at URBTIX outlets.
