The Sevens were described by TVB Pearl's 7.30pm news programme on Sunday as Hong Kong's greatest sporting event, so why did the channel fail to feature a single image of the competition in its 30th year?
ATV World's coverage was even more puzzling; a relatively long feature on China's victory in the third tier bowl competition (well done!) but again, not a smidgen on the cup final. Was this sour grapes or political correctness gone mad, ATV?
And while we're on the subject, why can the Sevens no longer be viewed on free-to-air channels?
It seems perverse in the extreme that Hong Kong's terrestrial channels turn their back on this exciting, internationally renowned event in their own back yard.
I'd ask for an explanation but I expect the reporters are too busy gathering reports from the annual police dog show.
