HK star looks to the future

Hong Kong's leading track sprinter, Wong Kin-chung, is determined to shrug off a disappointing National Games in Nanjing last October and is looking forward to new challenges at the forthcoming Asian championships and Asian Games.

The 19-year-old, who had a six-month training spell with the World Cycling Centre under the International Cycling Union, was hailed as a major medal contender in track sprint events at the Nanjing Games in October, but he returned empty-handed.

'I have thought for a while about my career in the sport after such disappointing results in Nanjing,' said Wong. 'But I am still young and with the lessons learnt at the National Games, I think I still have something to offer to track cycling.' A determined Wong is now eager to get back to training in preparation for the two important major events later this year.
