Hacken Lee Hak-kan and Alan Tam Wing-lun have shared the stage for more than 70 concerts since 2003. Now they have joined forces on the silver screen.
The comedy We are Family, directed by Clifton Ko Chi-sum, with a Meet-the-Parents-like storyline, portrays a young man (Lee, left) who is tested by his girlfriend's suspicious father (Tam, far left). The pair were in Fanling and Sheung Shui earlier this week to promote the movie.
The comedy is Lee's fourth movie. His last film was Wong Chun-chun's Six Strong Guys in 2004. 'On stage, I'm more experienced and everything's easier. But in the movie world, I'm a newcomer,' said Lee, who's working on his new album which is due for release in August.
In the film, Tam plays four characters. 'Every time we saw Tam's special makeup we would laugh. He was turning into someone else. We know the process was tough,' said Lee. During filming, Lee's biggest challenge was staying away from food. 'We were worried I would get too fat as filming progressed,' he said. 'The staff kept us well fed. We had a meal almost every two hours.
'It's OK for Tam because his roles in the movie are of a fat man and fat old lady. But as an idol, I can't get too fat,' said Lee jokingly.
