Camp spreads words of wisdom
Recently I went on a day camp organised by the Parliamentary Debating Society that covered the British parliamentary style (BPS Debate) of debating.
In the morning we learnt about the style and watched a demonstration.
The debaters and MC were graduates so they were verycompetent in English and spoke very fast, which made it a little difficult for us to follow.
After lunch, participants had to try this style of debating. We all had 15 minutes to prepare our four-minute talk but it wasn't enough time. We felt nervous and could not think of any ideas. Our preparation was therefore inadequate but we still had to go on stage when called.
I did not do very well but I thought it was really a good experience and it improved my English listening and speaking skills.

The concept of multiple intelligence is spreading.
The government has invested much money and resources in developing students' multiple intelligence, resulting in more activities in schools.
But why do we need multiple intelligence? Society is changing every day. In the past, we needed fewer people with high education and many labourers. But things have changed in the past 20 years.
We now need more abilities. In fact, multiple intelligence means extra abilities.
Leadership is one example of multiple intelligence. It is important to have leadership. If you want to be a manager or executive it will be an important element in deciding your success.
Multiple intelligence can change your life. It's important for you to decide what skills you need to obtain.

Recently I watched a film called 2 becomes 1. It concerns a woman who has cancer and has to have a breast removed. She fears the operation will affect her appearance but decides to have it and goes on to have a wonderful future.
Cancer sufferers face many physical and emotional problems.
This film offers them encouragement and teaches them to look forwards.
It made me realise that we shouldn't always look at the bad side of our lives.

Tough life choices
I sympathise with mainland women who fall pregnant. Pregnancy should be a pleasant event. But if women lose their jobs because of pregnancy it is very unfair because they haven't done anything wrong.
Some bosses lack sympathy and never consider the condition of the pregnant women.
I hope the mainland can develop quickly and introduce laws to really protect pregnant women.

Note of caution
Many songs have melancholy and desperate messages. That is why pop songs are criticised as harming the psychological and emotional growth of teenagers.
Though producers are held responsible for songs with negative meanings, consumers must be wise when choosing what to listen to. We should not let the bad influences spread, or teenagers will become obsessed with them.
Songs can boost morale and teach us how to live positively if they are well written with thoughtful lyrics.
Music is a crucial part of our daily expression, so we have to be clear what is going into our minds.

Influenced by the success of the Dan Brown book The Da Vinci Code, I recently borrowed a copy from my friend.
Some Catholics claim the book blackens the name of Jesus Christ.
But I think Dan Brown is free to express his mind and has the right to create any story that will attract readers' attention.
If you think The Da Vinci Code shows disrespect to Jesus, you should just treat the book as a story, not the truth.

Newspapers and magazines are not trustworthy. Most reporters want to attract readers and don't care about telling the truth.
They always create many fanciful stories and publish them. The paparazzi follow the stars everywhere and reporters will create stories about love affairs or arguments between directors and artists.
Their behaviour is disgusting. For them, money is much more important that morality.
If we want to go against this trend we should stop reading such disgusting articles.
