Movie mogul's nephew gets rehab sentence

The nephew of movie mogul Charles Heung Wah-keung was sent to a drug rehabilitation centre yesterday after pleading guilty in Eastern Court to drug possession.

Benson Heung Chin-wan, 23, said the ketamine, Ice, Ecstasy and sleeping pills found during police searches in North Point in April and Tsim Sha Tsui in May were for his own use.

Defence counsel Heung Wing-yan argued Heung was an addict who could not control his habit.

His release from the rehabilitiation programme will depend on the progress he makes.

Magistrate Allan Wyeth said another conviction would almost guarantee a longer sentence.

Heung admitted four counts of possessing a dangerous drug and one count of possessing a Part I poison.

Police found 7.88 grams of ketamine, 50 Ice and Ecstasy tablets and 23 sleeping pills.

Charles Heung is the chairman of Chinastar Entertainment, which produced the triad epic Election.
