Teenager sues salon over slimming contracts

A teenage girl is suing slimming salon Be A Lady to recover HK$27,000 at the Small Claims Tribunal. Chan Tak-shan, 19, claimed she signed a contract early this year for a programme that promised a refund and appearances in salon promotions if she lost 9kg in two months. But when the 47kg target was reached, she was asked to sign a second contract to maintain her weight for 12 months to qualify for the refund. She said she was not made aware of this condition and refused. The company refused to pay. The case will be heard in July.
