Fruit-picking contest

The floors of a shopping mall in Tseung Kwan O will be filled with lychees on Father's Day.

As part of Father's Day celebrations, East Point City will organise an organic lychee- picking competition to strengthen the bond between fathers and children in a green setting.

A small organic forest with real lychee trees will be set up in a corner of the shopping mall.

Teams of fathers and children will race to pick the fruit from the trees.

The competition is the latest in a series of green activities at the mall to promote organic living.

An exhibition on organic fruit and vegetables and a rice-seedling planting competition were held last month to promote healthy living.

From June 11 to 17, a festival showcasing organic lychees and tea leaves will be held at the mall.

Visitors will learn about the growing cycles of lychees and how to grow organic lychees free of pesticides and other toxic chemicals.

The lychee-picking competition will be held from 3 to 4pm on Father's Day.

Those who would like to join the competition can register at the customer service counter at East Point City.
