China Unicom's principal activity is the provision of telecommunications services, which include cellular communications, paging, international and domestic long-distance, data and internet services. The group operates in the British Virgin Islands, the United States, Hong Kong, Macau and the mainland. Last month, the company announced that the number of its GSM network users had risen by 1per cent to 110.3 million in April, while its CDMA subscribers also increased by 1per cent in April to 38.2 million.
