An army of men and women in suits and ties will dash through the streets of Central on Sunday, October 28, as part of Hong Kong's second annual Central Rat Race.
From the first leg to the last, company teams will navigate obstacles such as the 'job maze' on Chater Road or the 'dash-to-cash' race to the finish line.
The HK$50,000 donation from each team of eight will benefit Mindset, a charitable organisation that raises public awareness and provides support through mental health initiatives.
'In Hong Kong, the problems associated with mental health are increasing, and resources are finite,' Adam Keswick, of Mindset, said at a press conference yesterday.
Up to 50 teams can compete in the 9am relay race. Senior executives can donate HK$10,000 to compete in the Big Rat Race, and for the first time, a HK$1,000 donation will allow individuals to compete in the Iron Rat Race.
This year's event is sponsored by the Central and Western District Council, TVB Pearl and the South China Morning Post.
Y.K. Pang, Hongkong Land's chief executive, said: 'Last year's event raised more than HK$2 million for Mindset, and we hope to top that this year.'
