24-hour bedside guard for officer

An off-duty police officer who was viciously attacked on Tuesday after he fled his flat in his underwear has been placed under police protection in hospital. The move came as Constable Soong Ko-chung, 37, remained unconscious in Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Senior Superintendent Leung Ka-ming, head of Kowloon West regional crime unit, said the 24-hour bedside guard 'can offer him protection from any further attack and our officers can talk to him when he regains consciousness'. Constable Soong fled through the window of his third-floor flat.
