Free Wi-fi trial begins in Kowloon Park

A trial run of the government's free Wi-fi programme went into operation yesterday at Kowloon Park's Heritage Discovery Centre. The trial, part of an initiative to provide wireless internet access at 350 government sites in the next two years, will allow users to surf the Web from their mobile phones, PDAs and notebooks. Trial runs of the service will continue until September in six different locations across the city. The programme is one of the areas for action identified in the government's draft 2007 Digital 21 Strategy.
